Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Mairis Briedis: Afterthoughts

It's been so much fun watching the World Boxing Super Series field whittle down at cruiserweight, there has hardly been time to ask what comes after its over. If the answer is the winner faces Mairis Briedis this fall, would anyone be disappointed? The answer might have been different after Briedis advanced in the quarterfinals over Mike Perez. What a difference a day makes.

Is anyone still recognizing Lebedev as a champ? Dude got to keep his WBA title even though he lost a fight at cruiserweight smh.

Hopefully, no one puts an asterik on the tournament winner and fully recognize him as the undisputed champion at cruiserweight.

These Cruiserweights would be better served to enter the HW division after this tournament! Usyk is 6'3", Dorticos is 6'3", and Gassiev is 6'4"! I would rather see them face Wilder or Joshua, rather than Breazeale and Kubrat Pulev! MAN UP!

They haven't got the punch or elusiveness to compete with the best at HW. Usyk's style isn't going to work so well against bigger, stronger , harder hitting fighters.

I have a hard time believing these guys at 6'3" or 6'4" can't put on some muscle and fight at HW. I know they don't walk around at 200! CW is like no man's land! All the money is at LHW or HW!

Usyk is a fearless fighter and should be nicknamed "The Ultimate Road Warrior "

Have always said that Briedis is a top notch talent. Idiots have kept to hype others and what a difference a day can make

Usyk outsmarted Briedis on saturday. Let him blow his steam for the first 4 rounds and then went to work on Briedis face. Everyone knew it was going to be tough fight for both. Briedis after all was a wbc champ with 0 losses, he did have his moments which is expected from him, but Usyk was too smart to skillfull.
