For what its worth Konstantin Ponomarev is next in line if Ocampo's side turns the fight down. Unimpressive as well but the IBF rankings are filled with underwhelming guys.

Ponomarev ducked spence when brook was champ. And ducked the ocampo eliminator. He wants no part of spence.

I'm happy that Spence is at least staying busy. Maybe he could get two more fights in after this, one is September and another in December. That'd keep him sharp.

The only thing I really do not like at all about this is saying June 16. Six months from now.

That is pure bs. Spence looked like he barely broke a sweat against Peterson, he is 28 and looks to be in great shape. He could fight Ocampo or Ponomarev or whoever this weekend and win by ko. There is not going to be any big promotion for a fight against some mandatory junior varsity opponent. This fight should be in April or May at the latest. Get Spence in the ring as much as possible. And after every fight, he will call out Thurman again and again, totally emasculating him.

That was my reaction too. He could fight April or May. They will have him fight one more time after this. It must have something to do with TV dates or some such thing.
