Comments Thread For: Holyfield Explains Why He is Leaning To Joshua Over Wilder

Four time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield appears to be leaning to IBF, IBO, WBA Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) to overcome the challenge of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs). Joshua vs. Wilder is one of the biggest fights to be made in the sport of boxing.

joshua has definitely been battle tested unlike wilder, joshua has better technique and right down the pipe punches as opposed to wilder sloppy wild punches,Joshua has the better fundamentals and is also more versatile, don't think so? watch him mix it up on the inside against Carlos takam, only one way this fight goes and thats by the more patient joshua catching the chin up wilder and k.o'ing him brutally, and that's being objective

Tyson, Holyfield and all great boxers have all come out to rank Joshua above Wilder, interesting, all we need is for the match to get made 4th quarter 2018. May the best man win!

It will be interesting to see how mentally strong Wilder is, as some mentioned, Wilder hasn't been in the trenches and had to bite down on his gumshield. I think the fight will land in the UK so will he be able to hand circa 90k people screaming for Joshua?

If Wilder wasn't black Holyfield would support him 100%. Rooting against your own countryman huh?

You are totally right. Holyfield is just racist; I mean backing one black man over another black man is racism at it's finest.

Never said he was racist, just that if Wilder wasn't African American he'd support him as a fellow American over Joshua. If he was racist he'd say he wants both of them to lose

The bolded statement is racial discrimination... so he's not racist but he racially discriminates against Wilder because of his heritage?

Heaven forbid Holyfield simply thinks Joshua beats Wilder for actual boxing reasons (after all it's not like he hasn't listed said reasons). Seems "fans" find it so hard to swallow that not everybody worships the same people as them that they cry foul whenever they deem their hero "wronged".
