Comments Thread For: Froch: Bellew vs. Haye Rematch is a Genuine 50-50 Fight

Last March, in one of the biggest surprises of the year, Tony Bellew moved up to the heavyweight division and pulled off a TKO victory over former two division world champion David Haye at the O2 Arena in London. In the sixth round, Haye's right achilles ruptured and that made him a one-legged fighter, and also changed the entire fight. Bellew took over, dropping Haye twice in the contest. The second knockdown, in the eleventh round, prompted Haye's corner to throw in the towel.

Nah. As long as Haye is careful with his leg he should win a comfortable UD without even trying.

50/50 but only because David Haye is not a real threat to any HW (or CW).

Look at his opposition / activity since 2011.

Apart from Chisora, it's utterly pathetic.

A lot agree with Carl on this and it goes to show where David stands in the heavyweight stakes as Tony doesn't at all ....either!

well haye was looking for the big shot, swinging wildly and missing so it was easy for bellew to evade those shots. If he boxes smarter theres only one winner for me (even with his playdo body).

If Haye is fit and healthy (big ‘if’ nowadays) and doesn’t come in overweight (Haye has looked way too puffed up since coming back imo), and actually boxes, there can only be one winner here. Bellew is tricky and can make people miss tho, so I’m actually proper intrigued by this rematch now... so many intangibles!

IF Haye gets to ever fight again that is. This guy can get injured in the shower.

Are people forgetting that Haye won every round before the injury?

I might need to watch it again but iirc didn't Bellew win the first 2 rounds? I seem to recall Haye swinging wildly with horrible timing in the early rounds and Bellew being evasive and landing the cleaner shots
