Comments Thread For: Uzcategui: After I Crush Andre Dirrell - He'll Retire From Boxing!

Shortly after his last fight, Venezuelan boxer Jose Uzcategui declared himself ready to blast out Andre Dirrell and even retire him from the sport. Back on May 20 of last year, Uzcategui knocked out Dirrell in the eighth round, but the referee decreed that the last punch came after the bell had already sounded and disqualified the Venezuelan, so his opponent left with the interim-super middleweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

The drama with Lawson is making people forget that Uzacategui definitely landed after the bell.

Andre Dirrell needs to toughen up, perform up to his full talents, and dispatch this guy.

Dirrell will be sleeping and wake up regretting taking this fight again. No way Dirrell would win this fight

I'm a Michigan cat who supports Michigan fighters all day, but its kinda felt like Andre Dirrell has been retired for years. For a guy with so much potential he's seemed unfocused & not the guy he once was since that Abraham fight. You can say its cuz he ain't like boxing after that fight or that he was legit hurt or whatever else you wanna say, but regardless of whatever is going on with that he's not been the same guy with the same potential as before that fight.

People always talk about Hector Camacho changed after that Edwin Rosario fight. I think a similar thing happened with Andre Dirrell.

Jose uzcategui should beat him with relative ease this time around..the ibf super-middle title is within reach for this cat

I don't think anyone, who gots 2 brain cells to rub together, is dis*****g Dirrell got hit technically after the bell.

To me it wasn't THAT bad of a hit after the bell doe & I've seen thousands of fights continue after such a "late" hit without a point even being taken away. What was bad was the impact it had obviously, but I've seen that be more often turned into a NC than a DQ. That ref made his decision to f#ck up Uzacategui's day well before he DQ'd him.

Andre Dirrell needs to toughen up, perform up to his full talents, and dispatch this guy.
Yea that ain't happening. Been a fan of Dirrell since I saw him win the Michigan Golden Gloves. 2nd best Michigan amateur fighter I ever saw (obviously Floyd is #1), but he's not that guy that gave Froch a nice competitive fight (personally I thought he deserved the W in that one) or the guy who had so much potential at one time.

This is a cat who's brittle, not of the strongest mindset with some solid skills still doe. If you're an elite level guy (top ten-ish) & make it tough on him with pressure he'll fold or you'll catch him sooner or later. And Jose gots the type of pressure that'll catch up with Dirrell sooner or later. As long as Jose has been taking care of himself in his time away he'll win this one & likely by KO.

People are forgetting that Andre Dirrell was working his way back into the fight at the time of the stoppage. I still predict Uzcategui to win this time around, although this is by no means a guarantee for him.

He is definitely brittle and not mentally strong. But he should still have all the physical skills to handle a dude like Uzcategui, just needs to find the hungry junkyard dog mentality inside himself.

At this point it might never happen but I continue to hold out hope.

If Uzcategui rids Boxing of Dirrell, he deserves to get into the HOF on that alone.

The Dirrells and their crew have brought nothing but shame and disgrace to boxing.
