  • Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: UFC is on The Balls of It's Ass, No Marquee Stars Left!

In the coming weeks, UFC President Dana White will hold several meetings with various parties in the boxing industry, to discuss the UFC's plan to enter the sport. For several months, White has discussed his intention to become a player in boxing - with the support of the UFC's parent company. White has been on a boxing fix since last August, when the biggest star in his company - UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor - made his professional boxing debut in a losing effort against Floyd Mayweather, who at 40 was returning from a two year retirement.

UFC has a PPV every month, and a Fox card every other week. Boxing can barely sell a PPV nowadays.

Less and less PPV is good for the fans and the sport in general. It would be idiotic to support those expensive PPV cards. There's no comparison in the total number of boxing cards vs. total number of MMA cards all over the world. It's laughable to compare those 2 numbers. Boxing pulverize MMA.

Bob is just consistently trying to give MMA (a sport he feels is a bigger competitor than it is for him) bad press to steer as many people away & to him as possible.

The reality is outside of a couple years with Pac the UFC has generated more PPV revenue than Bob has & Bob has done pretty damn good for himself with PPV revenue. The UFC just has regular shows so instead of doing two 1M+ shows a year, they do a dozen 150k+ shows a year. And the math ends up the same more or less. And like I said the UFC is more consistent with PPV numbers than TR cuz they are doing monthly shows.

Mainly doe MMA & Boxing have different revenue models & business strategies so to act like this means this in boxing so this means this in MMA (or vice versa) is wrong thinking.

And the reality is while negative talking likely about the UFC makes Bob feel better probably him talking about the UFC at all has likely helped the UFC cuz as they say there is no such thing as bad press & I've seen sooooooo many headlines on soooooo many websites over all these back n forths Arum & White have had.

UFC's venture into boxing is a welcome one. The more the merrier, more fights will be available to the fans. A better scenario.
