  • Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Very Willing To Make Zolani Tete vs. Naoya Inoue

Promoter Frank Warren has revealed that he is open to making a fight between Zolani Tete and Naoya Inoue, stating he would "sign up for it in a heartbeat". At the weekend, two-weight World Champion Inoue battered Yoann Boyeaux in three rounds to retain his WBO world super flyweight Title in Japan. Now he plans to move up to bantamweight, where Tete holds the WBO crown. The WBO would likely make Inoue the mandatory challenger, because he was the world champion at the lighter weight.

Each of these guys has the potential to outdo the other on an almost equal footing. I would go with Tete...that South African is a sight to behold

These Japanese boxers won't back down from tough challenges. They usually started young with minimal build up fights and go for world title fight in less than 10 professional fights. Inoue reached his world title fight in his 6th pro fight !!

Zo-Tete is being totally overhyped here. Comparing him to Rigo is actually laughable. He looks threatening with his height and reach, but he's fought mediocre competition in the UK mostly and has been beaten by sub-par competition on more than one occasion already. His team is acting like he's Derrick Gainer in his prime, which was nothing that great at that, and he's not even that.

Inoue is unproven, but he shows way more potential and upside than the known already as Zo-Tete, so I'd go Inoue, but it's kind of funny that a guy who is 5'5" is looking to jump divisions when the division is probably now the most stacked in boxing. Is he really having that much trouble making weight?

Great fight, it would be the first major test of Inoue’s short career, although I think Inoue can be outboxed, I think his pressure and power would be too much for Tete.
Tete is a good fighter but a lot of people overrate him as they haven’t seen or don’t remember the vulnerabilities he’s shown at the lower weights although I do believe Tete has improved since then, but there are still unanswered questions as all his fights since relocating to the UK have been very easy for him.
Saying that Inoue has a lot of unanswered questions as well, that’s why I’d love to see this fight. If it happens in the UK, I’ll be there.

Actually, if you really look at it closely the Japanese fighters tend to have mediocre resumes.

Much like how Inoue has yet to step in against a truly elite foe.

Being black has nothing to with it, ******.

Japanese fighters simply don't tend to fight the very best. I stand by that.

There is truth to that but that’s because Japanese fighters are able to fight in their backyard for more money than they would elsewhere.

America and alot of other countries dont have a big market for small divisions but Japan have alot of money for the smaller guys.

Inoue is one of my favorite fighters but im not ready to pick him against tete just yet. Tete is a dangerous fighter.
