Comments Thread For: Malignaggi: Thurman, Spence Are a Level Above Rest - Must Fight!

Former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi views IBF champion Errol Spence and WBC, WBA champion Keith Thurman as the very best of the welterweight division and wants to seem them collide at some point in 2018. Thurman unified the WBA, WBC titles in March with a twelve round split decision victory over Danny Garcia.

'one time' taking his time..don't know why boxing fans are in a hurry, when the history book is written its only who got the W that'll be considered at the top of best who did it..and right now coming of surgery he feels and admits he's currently in no position to be at his best and fight Spence.. to beat spence you better be on your A+ game..he ain't on that..its a great matchup and I can't wait to see it late 2018 early 2019 at best...I'm a fan of both fighters btw..I wanna see Spence beat the best Keith Thurman there is not some excuse giving "just had a surgery" mofo

A lot of boxing fans are just plain ****** unfortunately and it shows when people bash Thurman over an injury. And injury?

Wow he isn't begging for a Conor fight this time!! Lol. He was basically Amir Khan for a while.

I have a feeling that Thurman fights a tune-up, and then rematches Porter, and that's all for 2018! Spence Jr. will face Peterson, and then he'll probably fulfill a mandatory. I don't see Spence Jr. vs. Thurman/Porter winner, happening until January 2019!

Throw Crawford in the mix too. If Thurman doesn't want it this year then Crawford can fight Spence instead. Don't need a whole year or so to get used to carrying 7 more pounds. And Thurman shouldn't need a year to recover from an injury either, don't understand why fighters seem capped on two fights a year. He could fight every 3 months conceivably if he fights C level guys as tune ups and then a big fight end of year.

I don't know about Thurman anymore. He was sounding soft and unmotivated his last interview. Not sure if its because of his win over garcia, the injury, or the fact that he got married to some chic he just met but don't be surprised if he loses his next fight. I definitely think Spence stops him and the main fight will eventually be Spence vs Crawford.

Thurman was in very competitive fights with Porter and Garcia - although he clearly won both...

Spence looks to be the clear dominating force of that division...

Thurman coming off surgery gets to have a tuneup then Porter is mandatory again. Spence showing elite skills but needs to beat Peterson then build up to unification probably early 2019 a reality Crawford not 1 fight at 147 yet showing elite too these are the 3 Top I think

It’s a corrupt business you don’t get to mix and match and say fight now Crawford with Arum Wants to make $ will not take Spence right away Thurman will wait as long as possible for unification unless we only support good fights things won’t change
