Comments Thread For: BoxingScene's 2017 Knockout of the Year: Lemieux Over Stevens

By Keith Idec - One of them was getting knocked out. That was the consensus when the David Lemieux-Curtis Stevens fight was announced nearly a year ago. The middleweight contenders possess plenty of power and both had been stopped multiple times, including a technical knockout defeat apiece to middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin...

Shouldve been Rungvisai. That dude from the East proved business TWICE! David and Stevens were already KOd before in their careers...that fight should've been honorable mention.

The one thing I like in particular from the Thai man is his composure to keep a smiling face, not pokered, that he's in there to care of business against the #1 p4p. That's legendary...

It was a better win obviously but I feel KOTY comes down to : the delivery, impact on the opponent ( and audience ) and how the opponent is rendered unconscious : as you mentioned Srisaket had to fight RG twice , Rung had already inflicted considerable damage on the first knockdown leading to the KO, as such it was expected given how unsteady and hurt 'Chocolatito' was seconds before the final blow ; whereas Lemieux iced Stevenson with that one-hita out of nowhere, BOOM!

Again circumstances are good to look at. If Rungvisai performs great again, depending if Choco was on his C game or Rung was on his A+ game...hard to tell. But Rungvisai was pounding in anger it only took 2 rounds. Stevens and Lemeieux aren't quality fighters so the mistake ratio is higher to see such KO's. Lemeieux''s KO was like the one Stevenson did on Willaims Jr. Meaning the sequence and close to the ropes as well. But I do like the Lemieux KO very much as well. The Thai I feel should be given more credit because Roman was #1... not the style of KO like "best commercials of 2017" programs for couch potatos

Exactly. Remember the RBR thread? That punch was followed by 5 pages of "I hope Curtis is ok"

I can't believe Jermell Charlo is on here twice. Wasn't he supposed to be feather fisted?

I believe Mikey Garcia's KO was the KO of the year! The set-up was just as pretty as the closer! It was also the 1st time Zlaticanin had ever been down in his career! WAR MIKEY!
