Comments Thread For: White: Team Mayweather Meeting is on Boxing, Not MMA Fight

Earlier today, UFC President Dana White created plenty of headlines when he revealed that he was scheduled to have a meeting with Floyd Mayweather's team. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumors regarding the UFC approaching Mayweather with a muti-fight deal to jump-start a career in mixed martial arts.

"UFC Boxing" aka PBC stable coming soon. Looks like Al found an out as predicted. The structure and financials of the deal will be interesting. But I expect some solid content produced with UFC in the mix.

We could be getting a "contender" type of show from this on FS1, and some solid mini-docs (think All-Access) for the PBC stable too.

The marketing powers of UFC should increase live gates; they do really well in that area. Additionally the creative corporate branding that comes with a WME-IMG relationship should be substantial for the top guys.

      Really looking forward to this.

If White wants to break boxing then why tf is he talking to team Mayweather? Nobody wants to have Floyd un-retiring and fleecing fans again and I doubt White is going to put his cash behind Tank or Badou Jack. He's just using Floyd's name to promote himself.

Really? Everyone knew Mayweather-Pac would be a rort, but millions forked over their cash to watch it.

Then, everyone knew Mayweather-McGregor would be a rort, but they forked over their cash to watch it too.

And since then, everything to do with Mayweather is hot news - he's still a draw.

Bottom line is, people are paying. Saying nobody wants to see that **** again just simply isn't true.

White getting involved in boxing will be awesome. He puts on fights that fans actually want to see. Sure, the elitist boxing establishment will ridicule him for now, but they're all old farts who need to die already.
