Comments Thread For: Measured Against All Time: Donald Curry

Another year of International Boxing Hall of Fame voting has come and gone. It will be another year where Donald Curry, the one time undisputed welterweight champion of the world, did not get the call. There was a time where Curry looked like he might be the pound for pound leader of the sport. A possible showdown with middleweight champion Marvin Hagler seemed inevitable. He was a thrilling knockout artist who could also box an opponent silly. The road to lasting greatness was open.

Thanks for bringing this forgotten man back from the "dead".

Until Lloyd Honeyghan happened Donald Curry was a bad man.
    He was beautiful to watch.

    Heck is he still alive?

Donald Curry, Marlon Starling, Michael Nunn, should be in the Hall of fame

He falls into the 'what could've been' category. He had it all, and could've been ATG, but youth, money... and ******* got the better of him.

I had thought that Curry was a 25-0 welter, after checking his boxrec record he was 24-1.
Honeyghan being his loss via a "retire" Due to injury (cut).
Donald had managerial problems and then law concerns as time went on.
As a welter he has wins over Marlon Starling (2) Milton McCrory, Nino LaRocco, Roger Stafford all quality talents especially Starling.

I would rate Curry in the top fifty at welterweight.
Outstanding amateur talent winning multiple National Titles and defeating Davy Moore for the number one spot on the National team.
