  • Comments Thread For: Pascal: For Me, Beterbiev is Better Than Kovalev and Bivol

Earlier this month, former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal announced his retirement from the sport. At one time, Pascal was the number one fighter in the weight class. Now the division is being dominated by fighters from Eastern Europe, with three of the four major titles being held by dangerous punchers from Russia.

Bivol reminds me a little of Canelo with better stamina, relative to Kovalev or Beterbiev if they are GGG in this analogy. Bivol has beautiful straight explosive punches that look like they should be more powerful than Kovalev's, just like Canelo's look like they should be more powerful than GGG's, but when you actually look at the impact they have, he is not hurting guys nearly as much, punch for punch, as Kovalev does, same as Canelo compared to GGG. So maybe Bivol's punch motion is more explosive, but his hands themselves are nowhere near as heavy. Ward said that Kovalev just had huge, boney hands, and Bivol may not have those.

So as for who hits harder, I think it's definitely between Kovalev and Beterbiev. Roy Jones said Bivol hits the hardest but I think he is confusing punch technique with raw power. As for comparing Kovalev to Beterbiev, it's very difficult. Beterbiev has a heavier right hand on the inside for sure. Right hand at range is hard to say. Possibly also Beterbiev. Left hand, probably Kovalev, although his punch technique on the left hook is not good. But left jab, probably Kovalev.

I wish the boxing journalists out there would do their jobs and ask Gabriel Campillo who hits harder, Kovalev or Beterbiev, and ask Cedric Agnew who hits harder, Kovalev, Beterbiev, or Bivol. Fans are definitely interested in hearing the answers to these kinds of questions. With all the **** that gets put out on youtube boxing channels, this would be an opportunity to actually put out a little substance that could shed some light on the subject.

Instead we get ******ed questions like "Who is your celebrity crush?" (No ****, I've heard that be asked to multiple fighters)

I haven't seen enough of Beterbiev. Or Bivol. I did read someone say Bivol is like Canelo so I'm probably done bothering with this thread...

show me a 1 punch KO from Beterbiev or Kovalev that was like Bivol's against Broadhurst. I mean a clean 1 hitter.

Kovalev nor Beterbiev have that 1 punch KO power.

Before you bring up GGG again. GGG has plenty of 1 punch KO's. Ishida. Rubio. Simon. Macklin. he's a harder punch p4P than kovalev or beterbiev.

instead of asking questions about who hit harder..why not they face each other and find out..or do y'all wanna sit on a stool thinking who hits harder...wilder? Joshua?
