Comments Thread For: Berchelt Can Take 1 or 2 Voluntaries, Roman Pushes For Shot

After his knockout victory over Orlando Salido, dangerous Mexican puncher Miguel "Micky" Roman believes he should be named as the official challenger to the super featherweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC), said the head of the sanctioning body, Mauricio Sulaiman. Roman (48-12, 45 KOs) has already sent a letter to the WBC, requesting them to issue an order to make sure the title fight happens.

Roman is a fun, action fighter. Berchelt beats the piss out of him though and HBO would give him a time slot to do it on. Might as well get it out of the way while people remember Roman made Salido contemplate retirement.

roman is a solid journeyman what mexicans call a calador he tries out up and comers hes a solid gatekeeper when put against the right guy he looks good but hes a natural superbantamweight or bantamweight look at the huge size diffwrence between him and bercheldt bercheldt will feast on roman if he fights mijares first as an optional i think mijares is a tougher outing than roman hes a very solid boxer this being mijares if mijares and roman fought id favor mijares to keep him at the end of his jab roman got lucky he had salido right at the end of the cliff and simply did enough to push him off as bad and slow as salido looked he still was winning that fight with the exception of thge knockdown roman is a journeyman a glkorified gatekeeper at best and this should not be an official defence for berchelt it would be more like a stay buysy fighyt.

I completely agree with you about roman, but whether salido was slow, old etc etc, he was ranked WBC no1 and roman beat him, so I do believe he deserves his shot... but berchelt will destroy him

Berchelt does not have to make his mandatory defense until May, so he can still make one or two volunteers still," added Sulaiman.
How tf is he expected to have 3 fights (plus mandatory) at most by May? As per usual with the WBC, one rule for Mexicans and another rule for others.
