Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Ring Return Targeted For April, Says Manager

Former four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez began the year as the WBC super flyweight beltholder, with an undefeated record, and holding the number one spot on most pound-for-pound lists. By the end of the year, he suffered two career defeats - one of them by way of a brutal knockout - and now his career hangs in limbo.

He'll never be the same. Not after that knockout.

I figured superfly 2 in february would be too early for Gonzalez to comeback after that brutal knockout. That was actually a kind of KO that can damage a fighter for good.

Future doesnt look good for Gonzalez unless he can change up his style kinda like what Barrera did back in the days but he is probably too old for that.

Why not? Because HBO told you so? Don't be a dummy, many fighters, even ATG, have been knocked out much worse than Chocolatito and went on do cement their legacy.

The effects maybe just psychological it's not a super strong division ...it would be nice to see him fight Cuadras...

            I'd say tune up next.

Rungvisai should take out Estrada and Cuadras next and Choco should be taking it easy this year.

              Let's see...

Manny - put to sleep by Marquez, now gun shy and tentative, losing to school teachers in foreign countries

Rahman - put to sleep by Lewis with a two-piece, goes on a losing streak, can only win against journeymen

Jones - knocked silly by Tarver, can barely win a fight after that much less stay on his feet, the only name he was able to stop was Jeff "Exposed" Lacy

That's just three off the top of my head. Want more?

Roman on the undercard of Canelo Golovkin sounds good ; on the first encounter between Canelo-GGG we got JoJo Diaz vs. Rafael Rivera and Diego DelaHoya vs. Randy Caballero, so its a significant improvement and adds even more intrigue to the whole card, meaning people will be wondering who wins the rematch and how 'Chocolatito' looks in his return and against whom?
