“Golovkin and Alvarez should have a rematch because I believe that Golovkin was going to knock him out and would of if Canelo didn’t run, which is what he did for the last round rounds to make it a draw. ‘Triple G’ fights like me, a pressure fighter who brings it to you. He was bringing Canelo down, landing head shots and body shots, and he made him fight like a sissy.”
Who is or was this James Toney anyway?
Oh, I ran a Google Image search to see. Just like I suspected. A fat and ugly mug. Had to be. Jealous of Canelo's success. Maybe hates him for both his looks, skills, success and being Mexican as opposed to African American. It figures.
Sorry for sounding cheap, but this idiot called Canelo a sissy and runner. I am not a fan of Canelo's really, I prefer other fighters over him easily, the likes of Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia, maybe Terrence Crawford when he is not defensive.
But this ugly mug proves a theory I had: being a professional boxer with a huge career record, even a decently successful one, doesn't mean AT ALL that the person has any idea on how to rate a fighter in a fight, as an observer.
When exactly did Canelo "run" or act like a "sissy?" He never RAN, he fought in reverse, which he usually does against almost anyone, except real runners like Lara or semi-runners like Floyd or Cotto. But Canelo never acted like a coward, not even a minute.
This fool doesn't seem to notice that Canelo's issue has always been STAMINA, the guy runs out of steam the first 3-4 rounds, and then he has to fight in reverse at least two minutes and can only push some action the last minute. There's the rare occasion when he starts a round a bit aggressive, because he somehow recovered during the one-minute rest.
So naturally, Canelo has such a poor, depressing, pathetic, ridiculously bad stamina, that he needs to go "rest" on the ropes most of the round after the 3d or 4th round. But he still engages. HE CAN'T EVEN RUN FOR GOD SAKES, HE IS TOO BIG, CLUMSY, BLOCKY AND FLAT-FOOTED TO DO THAT!!!
GGG, being the robotic Energizer Bunny he is, a tireless machine that never stops going forward and throwing punches even if he misses miserably, forced Canelo to the ropes EVEN MORE than others ever did, such as Trout, even 40 year old Mosley, and Angulo.
But being sent to the ropes constantly, AFTER THE 4TH ROUND, is not equivalent to "running" and "being a sissy," that's so incredibly ******. Every time Canelo had enough in the tank, he did attack with 4+ combos of power punches and push GGG back violently, or at least exchange with GGG LIKE NO ONE ELSE EVER HAS (even taunting him, inciting him to attack him, who else has dared do this? That's right, no one!) , and I'd bet anyone that Canelo won at least 80% of the time during those exchanges, before, as usual, running out of gas and then, being pushed to the ropes yet again by the robotic GGG machine.
If some trainer can DO THE MAGIC TRICK and provide Canelo with enough stamina to last at least eight rounds, I am sure he would not be sent to the ropes, the fight would happen mostly in the center of the ring and Canelo would have a chance of winning by stoppage before fading away after the 8th.
