Comments Thread For: Hearn Explains Why Burnett vs. Tete Will Not Happen - For Now

Eddie Hearn, promoter of IBF, WBA bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett (18-0, 9 KOs), has no issue being a bad guy with the fans - when he explains why his fighter will not have a unification with WBO champion Zolani Tete (26-3, 21 KOs) in the near future. Tete and his promoter Frank Warren have been applying a lot of public pressure to secure a clash with Burnett.

I can see why Hearn is saying that. Burnett is good, but Tete is real good.

Without thinking about it too deeply, do these Hearn vs Warren fights ever happen? Can't think of too many?

Hearn explains that Burnett can make the same amount of money for a normal world title defense as he would for a unification with Tete.

A few hours ago I read what Hearn had to say about Yafai unifying with Inoue :

“I would not forgive myself if I put a fighter in a fight that difficult, for poor money, and we lose it all, by just trying to do the right thing for a couple of blokes on the internet. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth of it.” -- Eddie Hearn

Mismatchroom is bad for boxing, we see the clear pattern of pricing his fighters out even a Kal Yafai who is not even close to the 'A' side among the 115 pound fighters. Regarding Zolani Tete how can anyone buy this guys BS? you mean to tell me, fighting a Stuart Hall or Lee Haskins will pay you the same than a unification match? WHO BELIEVES THIS CLOWN?!

Almost never, recently Yarde/Burton was a no go, McDonnell/Butler Warren pulled out of. Hearn generally steers clear of the WBO. Think Skeete/Eggington was the last time

So basically Hearn fighters WILL NOT be taking any tough fights.

Burnett's last fight was Zakiyanov, i'd say that was pretty tough. Especially when he's only had 18 pro fights.

Tete doesn't seem to be taking off for Warren, always buried on the undercard. Hopefully that Gonya KO has got him some acknowledgement, Tete deserves more.

Can kind of see where Hearn is coming from. Is the WBC champion gonna jump at the chance of fighting Tete? I think that's what itll take though for Hearn to make Burnett/Tete, a full unification.

Lets not forget Tete was running scared from the lad in your avatar. "No, no, Rigo too big"

He's saying they won't take tough fights for little money if the fighter is not financially secure yet. He's just being honest and yep that's ducking but at least he's admitting to the duck...

The other version is I'll fight anyone for my legacy followed by along as its for 20 million -DW .. which is ducking and b*ll****ting.
