Comments Thread For: Trainer: Unclear if Sadam Ali Remains at 154, Best Weight is 147

By upsetting Miguel Cotto in his farewell fight this past weekend at the Madison Square Garden in New York this past weekend, United States Olympian Sadam Ali (26-1, 14 KO's) captured the WBO junior middleweight title. Cotto was a big favorite, but the younger Ali proved to be too much for the former four division world champion. Prior to the contest, there was a lot of focus on Ali's sole career defeat - a 2016 knockout at the hands of Jessie Vargas, who is not regarded as a big puncher.

Ali still has Vargas nightmares at 147. He should just stick it out at 154 and fight Brook.

Might be able to compete a little better at 147. I don't think he is even in the top 5 at 147 but he got some dog in him for a few entertaining fights & some bucks to make at that weight.

A rematch would be great right now.

Ali needs to come over and join the PBC nation asap. That's where all the big 147 fights are at.

He should stay at 154 until he gets a big money fight, then drop down to 147. He should fight Brook, and Liam in their backyard that will be a nice payday.

He could get a decent New York fight somewhere in between there, too...

Ali is not an big draw anywhere but he could fight in Dubai for money. He’s not good enough to beat the top 47s come on now he got KO’d by Vargas. Keep the belt and just do catch weights overseas cotto and canelo did it , why can’t he ? 5h!t Adonis hasn’t fought an live body in years
