Comments Thread For: Hatton: A 'Fit' Tyson Fury Has Good Shot To Shock Anthony Joshua

Manchester legend Ricky Hatton believes the former champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) - if he gets fully fit - would have a good chance to shock IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs). Fury has been out of the ring since November 2015, when he traveled to Germany to capture the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO titles from Wladimir Klitschko with a huge upset via a twelve round unanimous decision.

Agreed. If Fury can make Wlad have trouble getting his punches off then surely he can do it to Joshua.

I wouldn't see it as a "shock". Fury is the far more talented fighter of the two. At his best he's a level above Joshua, at least.

I'll be more surprised if he ever really gets back to what he was.

I don't think that would be a shock at all. I think Hatton is trying to be nice towards Joshua. A fit Tyson plays around with Joshua period!

I think the problem Fury has is that he may have missed his chance with Joshua. It's unlikely that he can get in a ring with him in less than 18 months and in that time Joshua will have had more big night experience, more time to work on any weaknesses and the boxer that Fury fights may be a much different and more challenging opponent than he would've faced if he'd held on to the belts after beating Klitschko.

AJ entered professional boxing relatively late and so there was a window in which he was vulnerable to a more experienced and ring savvy customer like Fury. I think that window is closing and coupled with the toll Furys lifestyle will have taken on his body and the questions around his mental strength I would favour Joshua to prevail if and when they do meet.

I hope Fury does get his act together and the bout takes place though as it would be fascinating to see them take each other on at the height of their powers.

Theres one key element you NEED at least at this point in defeating Joshua and thats power . Sorry but Joshua is going to smash Fury once he sees an opening and he will see one wheather its early or late in the fight .

This forum thinks fighters stop progressing not even at 20 fights which is odd ball logic bc thats not how it works . On top of that the aggressive style coupled with the harder to hit fighter (Fury DOES get hit more stats SHOW that ) is a stylistic nightmare for his backfoot one and he WILL be going back !

It wouldn't be a shock. A fit and motivated Fury is a superior fighter to AJ.
