  • Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto To Be Evaluated Monday, Undergo Surgery For Injury

Former four division world champion Miguel Angel Cotto ended a 17-year career in boxing on Saturday night, when he dropped an upset unanimous decision loss to Saddam Ali at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Cotto will undergo an operation on his left biceps in the next few days, to repair a tendon tear that he suffered during the seventh round of his farewell fight. Cotto will be evaluated on Monday by a specialist at the Hospital For Special Surgery (HSS).

Thank You Miguel For always being a warrior. Not making a big deal of this. One of the many reason so many people love watching his fights. I found it very odd that he was not throwing the left with any accuracy after that 7th round. He was heating Ali up. No excuses is what it is. Probably the best way to go out so people don't constantly ask for another fight.

Cotto was a warrior to gut it out and finish the fight. He might have been able to pull it out if his bicep hadn't torn but the time is definitely right for him to retire. As great as he has been, he did look his age and took punishment in that fight. Its time to enjoy his family with his health in tact.

Cotto is a great Puerto Rican warrior and always gave it his all in the ring. He's a classy guy and didn't make any excuses for his loss last night.
        Have a great life champ.
        You've earned it!

          Go fuck yourself, Cotto.

Nah, just kidding. Cotto's ok by me.

That was a gritty performance. Cotto was rocked and crippled at the end. His body can't take it any more. What happened to the next best thing out of PR? Remember? Verdejo? He was going to take Flanagan's title. Flanagan is gone, old age will get him before Verdejo.

So was Marquez. If Cotto’s great, so is Marquez. Only Cotto fought big names on their decline, not in the prime. And when he did....he wasn’t a talker, I’ll credit him that.

TBH him not talking isn't a credit for me. Boxing needs a bit of fire in and out the ring
