Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: Sadam Ali Beating Miguel Cotto is NOT a Huge Upset!

There was no fairytale ending for four division world champion Miguel Cotto, who suffered a very unexpected upset decision loss to Sadam Ali (26-1) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. The curtain came down on Cotto's glorious 17-year career but not to script as Ali captured the WBO junior middleweight title before a shocked crowd that was filled with 12,391 fans - made up of largely of Puerto Rican fight fans who came to support the 37-year-old icon in his retirement fight.

Lmao. I laughed my ass off when I heard hbo talking about this win was going to take Ali to stardom. Ali did not even look like a B level fighter last night. He’s a c level fighter

Give SADDAM ALI much credit for outgoing him and give COTTO credit for being a warrior.

A tear to the bicep is a huge disadvantage for Cotto, he fought well when you consider that injury.
Never liked his style but he brings it in his fights and thats to be admired in any fighter.
Call it a day, his legs are pretty shot as shown by his reactions to temple shots. When your legs lift from punches your at the end.
If Ali poured it on for 2 consecutive rounds he would have stopped Cotto.

Very solid career and a good fighter no where near great!

              best of luck for Cotto.

So boxingscene one of these guys are going to have to wait to get in the Hall of fame. Serious question who gets left out the 1st year? Someone should make a poll and thread. Been here 4 years and still don’t know how

                  Mayweather
                  Klitschko
                  Ward
                  Cotto

Ward shouldn't get in. You should have to win fights cleanly to get into the hall of fame. Using your head on opponents' faces to cut them and head-butting them to the balls shouldn't be acceptable to the Hall of Fame... JS...
