Comments Thread For: Muhammad Waseem Upset With Lack of Support From Pakistan

The unbeaten World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Flyweight Champion, Pakistan's Muhammad Waseem, has expressed disappointment again over the lack of funds and support, and said he is thinking of accepting offers from other countries and fight for them. The country's ace boxer announced his decision through a video message on Monday, saying he had no sponsors to fund his participation in the international boxing events and represent Pakistan - therefore he was thinking of switching sides.

Sad when he's more represented by S.Korea than his own country that he's trying to represent. Still don't see him beating Higa though, might take some punishment.

Too many instigating ass twats like yourself in this world keep proving, that countries like Pak and NK and other underdogs need to have nukes. As for the topic, if he gets the full title, I don't think he'll need any more handouts.

Like it or not this guy is a Pakistani & if Amir Khan was serious about his love & desire of there sporting future, maybe he should be helping this chap's progression instead of avoiding Kell Brook & making a name for himself in a boring TV show!.....

If people actually did their research there's a reason he doesn't get any support from his home nation.

His father was a very controversial figure in politics. He made comments supporting the genocide that occurred in ****ladesh. The reason it was very controversial is because they are from Balochistan which is more or less a region that could have been in the position ****ladesh was in since it was not and still isn't really accepted as part of Pakistan as much as other regions. So Balochistan shunned them and so did Pakistan.

In fact Balochistan, like Barcelona, has wanted freedom from the home state to become independent for a long time. Balochistan folks don't even refer to themselves as Pakistanis but rather Balochs/Balochis.

His old man alienated him from Balochs. He worked hard to earn and regain the support of Balochs. Now because of that the mainstream Pakistani media have shunned him along with the government.

This is why politics doesn't belong in any sport whatsoever. As soon as you go there it's pretty much a wrap and puts a ceiling on how far you can go.

This is not true at all. I've met 'balochis' (the actual term) and everyone of them calls themselves Pakistani.

That is not to say there isn't an independent movement (same with the piece of balochistan in Iran) but it is largely a collection of terror cells aimed at disrupting major development funded by china. The backers are likely the US and UK.

Now none of that has to do with the lack of financial funding for boxing which is the same problem across all regions. Cricket is their biggest sport and gets the most funding and sponsors.

Hockey comes in next and then everything else after.

Anyway just shedding some truth on the issue.
