Comments Thread For: Carl Frampton: I'm Ready For World Title Fight if it Comes Next

Last week, former world champion Carl Frampton came away with a hard-fought win over Mexican Horacio Garcia, who lived up to his nation's reputation, coming forward with an iron chin and pushing Frampton all the way. Speaking after the fight, Frampton wasn't enthused with his performance but was happy to get the victory.

take another fight like the last one..against another fighter with a different style..it takes more than one "tune up" fight to blend with your new coach

I only the first 3 rounds against his last opponent I thought Carl was doing good. Then I heard the Mexican came back strong. I need to watch it in its entirety

I thought it was a home decision. I feel if it was a world title fight in a neutral venue, the decision would've went against CF.
Kudos for taking it on though. He could've taken on much lesser opposition for his first fight with a new corner coming off the back of his first professional loss.
He said as much afterwards that he needs to listen to his team in selecting fights, as he had a big say in this one. They'd be wise to have another 'tune up' before pursuing bigger names.

Yeah he's going to need another 2-3 with this team. And he didn't look all that good either.

Honestly I've not really been that interested in Frampton after he clearly ducked Rigondeaux after he beat Scott Quigg. I understand he wants money fights but he was already making good money packing out national stadiums in Ireland. So why not bring Rigo over? He was willing and game. Meh. Santa Cruz will beat him again which I'm guessing will be Framptons last swan song.

Aparantly after that fight fell through after the weigh in, frampton had to pay a fortune to the mcguigans for training and promotion, and also he had to pay a large amount to get away from them.

Allegedly the stress of the last few months are due to the fact that despite filling stadiums for years, he almost went bankrupt!

All the names you mentioned (plus GRJr, Selby, Mares) could fight Rigo if they truly wanted it. But it's clear they're avoiding the type of humiliation suffered by Donaire.

After the Lomachenko fight, maybe Rigo settles at 126 to see if any of these contenders want to tackle the Cuban?

I doubt it. Rigo didn't get fights pre Lomachenko and I don't think he'll get fights post Lomachenko regardless of the result. He's just far far too much risk for all these fighters.

I'm just looking forward to December. I'm hoping it's the most technical fight of the year. I'm a sucker for two good technical boxers displaying pure boxing skills and trying to intellectually joust with their boxing IQ.

Just give me a good fight. May the best man win.
