45-year-old former world cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (41-3-2, 30 KOs), now competing as a heavyweight, returned to the ring for the first time since last July, and won an eleven round split decision over Ytalo Perea (10-3-2, 6KOs) at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo.

For some reason the WBA allows eleven round fights in these overseas bouts. I assume to avoid draws.

Guillermo Jones just carries around his own well of weirdness. Going from 147 to heavy, the endless, wildly oscillating career, two idiotic failed drug tests, plain odd fights where he wins by turning Denis Lebedev into ET, Don ****ing King, and now eleven round split decisions. He's probably P4P no.1 in another dimension and has somehow rocked up to our own impoverished reality, warped in body and in probability.

Jones is a tough durable fighter. I wonder whether he can make a mark at heavyweight.

Good god the thought of Jones getting a big fight now at HW is sickening. Jones vs BJ Flores is one fight that I would be OK with

He's a pretty good fighter but overall an underachiever
