Losing close decisions to Taylor were perhaps the first hints that his 40-something body was finally showing the effects of age. While his was very competitive in the bouts –
many thought he won both

Originally posted by MR. Vi totally disagree with this statement.B-hop fought jermaine the same way he fought his previous 20 title defense, with methotical tactics and with cautious punch timing. he didnt slow down a bit , he was not dumb and underestimating taylors power. bernard knew what he was doing even though it wasnt in stylish fashion. i dont think his fight style in both of these fights occured because of his age. simply he was up against a top contender and he didnt want to risk a loss by doing anything unorthodoxed.

I think Hopkins age does show but only in one area.Hopkins cant really go after people for the full 12 any more.He is smart about his limitations as far as endurance goes though he will fight the first 6 smart with a slower punch out put and press the later rounds when the other guy is abit tired. He just wants 2 or 3 out of the first 6 and then take control of the rest of the fight. If Hopkins still had the endurance like he used to and could fight all 12 like he fights the last 6 these days he would have had no problem beating Taylor.Comment
