  • Comments Thread For: Alfredo Angulo Mentioned as Possible Chavez Jr. Opponent

As BoxingScene.com reported last week, former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has revealed the date of January 26 for his ring return. The fight would take place at a venue in Los Angeles, California. According to Chavez Jr., he is simply waiting for confirmation from his advisor Al Haymon to begin the strongest part of his camp in search of rescuing his image.

Oh man, I really want to see this happen just for the sheer piteous spectacle of it all. I want to see Chavez sheepishly showing up at the weigh-in almost a stone above weight, and then after some begging and bribing to get the fight back on, see him nervously throwing pitter-pat punches at Angulo, which keep hitting him in the open mouth while he staggers around the ring like a drunk with his hands down. I want to see a fight so bad that it has everyone in the arena questioning why they even came and what they're doing with their lives when the final bell rings.

You make ham and eggs sound like filet mignon. I'd fall asleep before I sat through all that.

Gees, this is sad. I don't understand why Jr is motivated to keep fighting on. If it's pride, I cannot see him achieving the right amount of success to level the scales in comparison to the embarrassment he suffered in the Canelo fight.
He would have to win another belt against an undefeated name fighter to redeem himself, not just rack up some decision wins against over-the-hill journeymen or gatekeepers- there's just too much expected of him.
The best move for him would be to move into another area of boxing where he can utilise his experience and name, maybe commentary on ESPN desportes or promoting, something like that.

Or I could just stand on a street corner in any city and watch two bums fight.
