Olympic gold medalist and 10-time world champion Oscar De La Hoya presented new, state-of-the-art boxing equipment valued at thousands of dollars today at Garden Grove Boxing. De La Hoya was joined by dozens of excited youth who gathered together to receive gloves, hand-wraps, mouth guards, headgear and other state-of-the art boxing equipment.

I can't speak about the girl, but he re-connected with the son years ago. That kid is ringside at a lot of shows. The kid is trying to become a pro boxer, having amateur fights for the moment, but De La Hoya hooked him up with Joel Diaz as a trainer. Devon De La Hoya is the name.

Looking at the gear in those photos I would probably estimate the total cost to be about $4,999.95. Looks like Timmy Bradley pipped him by $0.05 with his donation.

On a more serious note who cares what he does in his personal life, can't hate on the guy for giving back to the kids. Especially considering boxing is a sport prominently engaged in in less fortunate communities. A new pair of gloves for some of these kids would be like christmas came early this year.
