  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua on Joseph Parker: Is He Trying To Sell His Belt?

IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) is wondering if WBO champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) is attempting to cash-out by trying to use his title belt as a trinket to get the biggest payday possible. Parker's promoter, David Higgins of Duco Events, has made it clear that he won't even consider a financial split of 80-20 from Eddie Hearn, who handles Joshua.

Just seems like usual business to me. Someone goes high the other low and reality where the deal will be made is in the middle.

Parker is a paper champ. The sooner he loses that belt the better

Nothing wrong with asking for 40%

He won't get it but you can't blame the guy

Sometimes I feel boxers and their teams are too bothered about the percentages.

Parker could have a 10/90 split and still make more money than he's ever made!

Parker probably loses with that sloppy form, but fight>money should be AJ's modus operandi with only 20 fights and being 28. Want a belt? Give the guy 35% and have a knock. Fighters used to be in boxing to fight. Now it's like two rich pricks fight after school for the rights to the best dock spot.

They don't call it prizefighting because fighters just were in it to fight.

The purse split for a champion against a mandatory is 75/25.

Why should Joseph Parker, a world champion, accept worse than that at 80/20? Let alone the even more ridiculous 90/10?
