  • Comments Thread For: Arias Believes Jacobs Got "Participation Points" With Golovkin

Middleweight hopeful Luis Arias gets his shot on the big stage this Saturday night at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, as he faces former WBA "regular" middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Back on March 18th at New York's Madison Square Garden, Jacobs lost a unanimous decision to unified champion, Gennady Golovkin. While Jacobs didn't get his hands raised in victory with GGG, he was lauded for his efforts.

I hate to say it but he's exactly right! people gave Jacobs twice as much credit for hanging in their than GGG got for beating the second best middleweight! Jacobs has been celebrating that lost to GGG as the best thing of his career.

never heard of this kid til his fight with danny was announced but i have to say hes right. danny got more credit for surving than ggg got for actually winning. kinda reminded me of maidana mayweather 1.

He's right. I think he benefited from GGG having so many detractors who want him to lose so run with the first guy that went the distance.

I think Jacobs did well and fought a good fight but to say he won more than 5 rounds is ludicrous IMO. A bad scorecard of 6-6 is still a loss. It's a little disappointing that he went on a victory lap and speaks to the mentality that he didn't really believe he could win the fight and that surviving was good enough. That's not the mentality of a truly top fighter.

Jacobs has to knock this guy out. Too much talking to let him go the distance.

Yes and now that he signed to HBO and Hearn, he has all of sudden become an elite MW and getting all this hype. When he was aligned with Showtime and Haymon, people were trashing him and saying he had a glass jaw and hadn't beaten anyone of note.
