Sergey Lipinets secured a long-time dream last Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York when he captured the vacant IBF junior welterweight world title with a twelve-round decision win over Japanese Akihiro Kondo. Lipinets (13-0, 10 KO's) became the mandatory challenger by the International Boxing Federation since last December after he stopped Leonardo Zappavigna in eight rounds in a bloodbath to get the No. 1 spot in the rankings.
