Comments Thread For: Sammy Valentin Bounces Back, Stops Barboza in Five Rounds

Tonight's edition of Boxeo Telemundo takes place at the Osceola Heritage Center in Kissimmee, Florida. Sammy Valentin (13-1), of Puerto Rican descent, bounced back from his July stoppage loss to Giovanni Santillan in a big way by stopping Alejandro Barboza (11-1) in 5 rounds. Valentin controlled the bout from the opening bell, landing several power shots. Barboza landed some of his own big shots but they didn't have much effect on the stronger Valentin. Barboza would hit the canvas twice in a big fourth round for Valentin.

Valentin took his loss and came back and corrected his defense and looked really good....seems like a nice guy...style reminds me a little of Mike Alvarado. He is the definition of what you expect from a prospect when it comes to competition - he has now fought two unbeaten fighters in a row instead of a hapless opponent who lost 5 of his last 6 fights like so many protected fighters do.

Who is it that thought Hairon Socarras was the second coming?? That guy has no defense and struggles with a guy with 8 losses and squares up. He has NO technique and just wails away and gets caught flush countless times.
