Comments Thread For: Scott Quigg: After Next Fight - I Want Frampton, Valdez, Santa Cruz

Scott Quigg believes he can become a two-weight World champion in 2018 but says he's prepared for a hard night's work on Saturday when he faces Oleg Yefimovych in a eliminator for the WBA World Bantamweight title in Monte-Carlo, live on Sky Sports. Quigg held the WBA Bantamweight crown over six fights before losing out to Belfast rival Carl Frampton and the 29 year old has since moved to Los Angeles to team up with legendary trainer Freddie Roach, landing their first win together in April against Viorel Simion at Wembley Stadium.

Still no mention of Rigondeaux at 126.

Nobody from 122 to 126 wants anything to do with him. I think even if he loses to Loma these guys will still avoid him.

I think you're absolutely right. It's super frustrating as a fan but honestly I kinda understand it. Rigo is not huge draw. Even if you manage to beat Rigo, he will probably still make you look terrible because he's so good defensively. It's an extremely high risk fight with almost zero rewards. You get some props from a few hardcore fans and that's about it

100% correct, there is not much to gain fighting Rigo in victory or defeat. It's sad to say we will never see how good he truly is against the best.

I understand the high-risk-low-reward aspect but only if it concerns earnings for that fight only.

If Quigg somehow managed to beat Rigo, he'd pocket not much for that fight. But his promoter would most definitely use the increase in rep to arrange better paying events. And Quigg would have no shortage of challengers once broadcasters sink more money into his appearances.

OTOH a loss to Rigo isn't the end of his career either... provided he doesn't quit on his stool or get sparked in the first round.

He was watched by millions and millions of fans around the World. Remember two Gold Medals in the Olympics. Stop repeating arums $h1t...

I know what you are saying. Back in the day the greats fought the best no excuses but now and days it's money and politics to keep ticket sellers safe and lets be real like it or not Rigo does not sell and I highly doubt if you aproach a casual fan they will not know who he is. Sad state of the sport but it is what it is.
