Former three division world champion Mikey Garcia was hoping to fight for a third time in 2017, but that's not going to happen. The television schedule has already become very packed until the remainder of the year. Garcia's next fight is being targeted for January 27, according to a team source who spoke with ESPN Deportes. For now, Garcia has decreased his intensity with respect to training, as it's become apparent that he won't fight until 2018.

Hopefully that fight with Linares is forced on GBP so they can't include an option on making the fight. That's one of the legit good things that the WBC is doing. All this division is one of the big problems with making fights and the belts actually have some power in cutting the bs with a promoter retaining a title in house for some period of time with options on non-signed fighters.

Why does everyone keep pretending they want to see Mikey vs Linares? You want another repeat of Charlo vs Lubin, a fight that didn't live up to the hype either? Mikey is a monster puncher, and huge for 135. Linares has an awful chin, and bad stamina too which makes it easy to hit him in the later rounds, which he probably wouldn't even make it to see against Garcia. Mikey vs Linares is a terrible fight. I don't think Linares has the power to keep Mikey off him consistently either (which doesn't bode well for Loma vs Mikey either, but at least Loma has better stamina and defense, and more consistent sharp counters).

Linares vs Lomachenko is a good fight, not Mikey vs Linares.

As for Mikey's next fight, watch it not even be Easter Jr smh. After all this crap that it could be Miguel Cotto, or Danny Garcia, even Keith Thurman, Easter Jr was supposed to be the fallback, so let's see if Haymon comes through for Mikey or not. I'm not that interested in Mikey vs Easter either, but at least Easter is not known for having no chin, well, as far as I know. And Easter is bigger than Linares I think, longer reach.

The matchups should be Loma vs Linares, and Mikey vs Easter, then winners fight. Not Mikey-Linares. Mikey-Linares is Canelo-Khan all over again. No thanks.

Linares vs Lomachenko is a good fight, not Mikey vs Linares.

In 2019 maybe. Loma gots work to do at 130 still. Arum and HBO need to quit f#cking up the sport and get Berchelt vs Loma happening. Maybe line up Tank vs Machado. Winners fight in late 2018. Loma moves up to 135 if he comes out on top and fights Mikey at 135 or a catch-weight if Mikey is at 140 for good by then.

Dreamland assessment maybe cuz networks and promoters have too much power to prevent fights but either way I don't see Loma moving up so soon. And idk that Mikey makes 133 or something in between or that Arum would even make that fight with their drama.

I don't think Linares cares if he's stripped! WBC and GBP (Canelo) have some issues! Mikey should fight Omar Figueroa Jr. for the vacant WBC Jr. WW title. In fact, Imam, and Prograis, are good opponents too, however Omar is way more entertaining!
