Comments Thread For: Lara Sounds Off: Lubin Was a Child! I'll Beat Charlo! I'll Beat Hurd!

WBA/IBO junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (25-2-2, 14 KOs) is pressing hard to get his hands on the other champions in his weight class. Last Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Lara retained his title with a lopsided decision against previously undefeated 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (20-1, 9 KOs). As part of the undercard, two of the other beltholders retained their belts with impressive wins. Jermell Charlo retained his WBC title with a first round demolition of undefeated Erickson Lubin, while IBF champion Jarrett Hurd broke down and stopped former beltholder Austin Trout.

Calling it now. He's getting stopped by Charlo.

People seem to forget this guy's last competitive opponent was Vanes Matirosyan (and before that Canelo). First fight was a draw, second could've went either way too.

Charlo will win. His age will show. He's been fighting scrubs for a reason.

I think Lara is salty Charlo buzzed more than he did on a show he headlined. He knows he'll never headline over Charlo again.

But funny he downplayed Lubin but he couldn't get his weak opponent out there.

My money is on Charlo when they fight.

Well there you have it. He dropped Charlos name.
Let's see what big mouth Charlo has to say about this.....
Let's see if he even responds at all.
If Charlo is as tough as you all think he is and if Charlo has any balls he'll take Lara's challenge and fight him next.
            Don't you agree??

I'll never sleep on Lara. Just because a fighter isn't entertaining to watch doesn't mean he can't fight. With his speed, the south paw stance, and his experience, I would give Lara the edge over Charlo and Hurd. Hurd seems to have slow starts against slick fighters. He depends on his size, power, and pressure to break them down late in the fight. That is the wrong approach against Lara, who can move all night and counter. Lara vs Charlo is more competitive. Charlo would force him to fight. The problem with that is, that makes Lara even more dangerous because he can crack. Now these fights will have to take place soon for Lara. 2 years from now both of those guys beats him.

Everyone knows I don’t like Lara, but he gives Shartlo the blues. Shartlo is a bum and hadn’t fought anybody good.

I think Lara beats Charlo but I never want to watch Lara again, he doesn't try to be even remotely exciting.

Hurd will be target practice all night, I like the fight against Charlo. Both very technical fighters, might be a boring one if Lara is too cautious but if Charlo pressures and makes him fight, it will be an awesome fight.
