HOBOKEN, N.J. Abel Sanchez hopes their promoters can come to an agreement soon for Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez to fight again sometime next spring. If that happens, Sanchez doesn't expect Golovkin to box before facing Alvarez again. According to Golovkin's trainer, there's simply too much money at stake in an Alvarez-Golovkin rematch to take a bout in between.

It's smart but I'd think it would be better to keep GGG sharp and active.

I also think GGG should wait till May. GGG would take a big risk. In 'worst case scenario' Golovkin gets stopped by Canelo but he hits the jackpot again which means he's a winner. If Golovkin fights someone like Derevyanchenko or BJS-Lemieux fight winner and he looks beatable, gets injuried or even he loses then it would have a big negative impact for the rematch with Canelo.
