The fact is both fighters are top 5 and coming off impressive wins recently and have good momentum and their last fight was a FOTY candidate. Only boxing fans would have a problem with this fight

what are you talking about? Ive got no problem with the fight. The only criticism I have is with him talking about a march/april date, which is 5-6 months away. Both got a relative soft tuneup, why do they need to wait another half a year for a fight, which should have already happened?

mares just had a 10 month layoff and before that he was out for 1 year and 4 month.
Cruz had a 9 month layoff what are these guys waiting around for?

Yeah they should be fighting by mid February. Could make the fight in January honestly. I guess he wants to fatten up and enjoy the holidays.
