Comments Thread For: Thurman Confirms Return; Won't Fight Spence or Porter Next

NEW YORK Keith Thurman doesn't know who he'll fight in his return from elbow surgery. The unbeaten WBA/WBC welterweight champion does know who he won't face in his first fight since defeating Danny Garcia by split decision March 4 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Thurman confirmed Saturday that he won't take a rematch with Shawn Porter or a highly anticipated, 147-pound championship unification fight against Errol Spence Jr. in his return to the ring.

Hopefully Spence gets a crack at him before Porter.

Porter can wait a little. Garcia will be there if needed.

A tune up is fair, the Spence fight really shouldn’t go past next year though, Q1 of 2019 at the latest.

If it's Jessie Vargas that's not a tune up. That's a tough fight. Both have been off for a while.

              This is horseshit.

$1m+ and a TV date, so he can have a "welcome back fight"? Who the fuck does he think he is? He's only ever fought 2 opponents with a pulse and now needs more money and more of our time before he does it again.

This, right here, is why the sport is screwed.

His won over Diego Chaves is pretty good too. He beat Guerrero before he was completely washed up as well. It's an okay win on his resume but not a great one.
