  • Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue Having Tough Time Securing His Next Opponent

This afternoon in Tokyo, Mr. Ohashi, the president of the Ohashi Gym, called a press conference and updated the boxing world on the status of its star boxer, WBO super flyweight champion, Naoya Inoue. The plan has been and continues to be to have Inoue fight on New Years Eve in Tokyo; the highlight calendar date for Japanese boxing. There's just one problem: nobody will fight him.

The Second most feared Man in Boxing behind Deontay Wilder.

Rau’shee Warren would actually be a Good fight for him.

Rungvisai unification? Cuadras? Estrada? All booked up or negotiating? Way more money in Inoue vs any of these fighters than them fighting themselves again

You pay Rungvisai fair for unification he's not afraid of anyone I do not believe he's ducking unification if $ right

            A little unfortunate timing...

            Gonzalez just got stopped
            Sor Rungvisai - Estrada mandated
            Yafai already scheduled a bout

And now Ancajas taking another fight instead? Doesn't leave him with much. Might be able to get a fight with Rau'shee Warren if he'll fight at super flyweight again.

I'd imagine not many a lining up to face him. He's basically unknown and will probably beat the other champs.

Take Yafai for instance, good fighter actually but why would Eddie Hearn bring Inoue to the UK to possibly beat Yafai when nobody knows him. He can just bring another guy like the last Japanese fighter that Yafai fought. Pretty much nobody watching knows the difference anyway apart from the real hardcore fans which isn't many.

Real unfortunate for Inoue. Although I don't think he's high on anybody's Christmas list, he should be getting fights from other top guys ar 115. Ancajas's team looks weak here. Maybe he can fight Cuadras. Although Cuadras lost, he still showed good boxing ability and that he's definitively on the Estrada-tier of boxers in the division. Most importantly, he needs to stay active if he can't get anyone notable...

Translation: They can't find another tomatoe can for Inoue.

Coming in to say this. It seems every single one of the other "boogeymen" fighters has more success not piling up rigor-mortis induced corpses for defenses than Inoue. Estrada and Cuadras got matched tougher while getting put lower on the card than Inoue's baby coddling squash match. Time to take off the training wheels.
