WBC World Champion Mairis Briedis (22-0, 18 KOs) and Mike Perez (22-2-1, 14 KOs) faced each other at a press conference in Riga ahead of Saturday's Ali Trophy Quarter-Final clash at Arena Riga, Latvia. "It is a great honour for me and for Latvia to have such a big fight and tournament in our country," said Briedis. "I am looking forward to showing that Latvia is not only a country with singers and dancers, but also some world class boxing. There are some pressure on my shoulders fighting in front of a sold out arena, but I am sure I can handle it."

I didn't know Latvia was known for singers and dancers. Does anyone know some famous singers and dancers from Latvia??

Yeah man. Apparently these guys are known as far afield as Estonia and even have a few fans in Lithuania.

There was some article about how the diamond belt is totally fake and made of plastic and costume ***elry. I mean all WBC belts are worthless, but I'm talking monetarily worthless. I won a WBC medallion in the amateurs though and its pretty cool

I say Perez wins by KO. I expect a impressive performance from him now that he is in impressive shape and in the right weight-class.

I say Breidis Prescott by KO , cruiserweight is really good now, with Gassiev etc, I always knew upping the limit to 200lbs would bring a lot more talent. Perhaps they could even raise it to 210

I haven't seen Perez at cw, is he strong at the weight or a bit weak like he took diuretics
