Comments Thread For: Linares: The Draw Was Best Decision For Canelo vs. Golovkin

Jorge Linares (43-3, 27 KOs) was very pleased with is performance from Saturday night, when he retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight crown Saturday against Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell (17-2, 14 KOs) at the Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles, California. The fight was televised as a headliner by HBO and represented Linares' return to the United States for the first time since he knocked out Ira Terry at the StubHub Center in 2014. The return to the United States on HBO, represents something special for 'El Nio de Oro'

I gave the fight 7-5 to GGG but have no beef with any side that had it no worse than 7-5. 8-4??? I raise an eyebrow. 9-3??? EITHER way??? Needs to never judge again.

I thought you were all in on Canelo.

That's about the same score I had.

a close fight with so many swing rounds, depending on who you give those rounds to you're left with a close decision for either guy or a draw.

reminds me of Ward-Kovalev. Another close fight that had people crying robbery.

GGG won round 1, rounds 4-9, and round 11. 2, 3, and 10 I need to watch again. So, I already have eight rounds for GGG, and maybe a 9th, I have to rewatch. Of course, you could give round 1 to Canelo, maybe. So I do think 8-4 GGG is probably the average score. Canelo barely won a clear round all night, while GGG had six pretty clear ones in a row in the middle. Canelo would not have gotten a draw if he wasn't a cash cow.

I am tired of hearing "its good for boxing". I am tired of hearing the judges had a bad day.
GGG won the fight convincingly. Then he got screwed. While little Prince Charming Canelo got more gifts on the judge's cards. He got it in Mayweather. He got it in Lara. He got it with Trout. He was ahead in the Khan fight, which is not what was happening.
He is a very good fighter I will not take that away from him but when these scorecards are so off so many times, how in the hell is that good for boxing? Something is corrupt!
It's good for Golden Boy and its good for Canelo. All the promoters will make a lot of money if there is another fight. I suspect they will let GGG get two years older because he didnt lose as much as they hoped. Canelo lost this fight plain and simple and GGG got screwed. It is BAD for GGG and the sport of boxing.

most people had golovkin winning 8-4 which is wrong. i had canelo winning 7-5 because canelo landed the bigger shots, but golovkin just was more active. the problem i have with scoring is that cancer 118-110 card which unfavorably hurt canelos reputation. the kid fought his heart out, had no influence over the judges decision but everyone blames the card on him. another problem i have is that people said golovkin was going to sleep canelo this fight and since he didn't do that, their 2nd excuse is to say 8-4 on the cards in golovkins favor as a excuse to hide the fact that golovkin didn't knock him out.

the worst of it all was that cancerous old piece of senile demented **** harold lederman. why cant that guy just retire and drop dead? his scoring is the worst in ****ing boxing, he had golovkin winning 116-112 and gave golovkin 2 of the 4 first 4 rounds when canelo had his best moments in the start of the fight. its ****ers like him who ruin boxing by negatively influencing the fans scoring of the fight, alongside that ***** jim lampley.

                    Exactly.

Lederman is a bag of sh.it and too Lampley

In the Latin-American TV all the analysis were saying that the fight was to close and competitive.

Is the America.media the only that said that was a robbery to GGG.
