Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo, Triple-G Will Be Bombs Away From the Start

LAS VEGAS Gennady Golovkin spoke this week about how he and Canelo Alvarez will spend some time feeling each other out before their fight becomes the unforgettable battle virtually everyone expects. Oscar De La Hoya doesn't think it'll take even that long. The retired six-division champion predicted during Thursday's episode of ESPN's "First Take" that Alvarez, the Mexican icon his company promotes, and Golovkin will start trading punishing punches as soon as their scheduled 12-round middleweight title bout begins Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.

    Honestly, I doubt that.

Both fighters strike me as inclined to box technically when against credible threats.

Exactly. I don't think either one is dumb enough to just walk in throwing them thangs like that. Im guessing 3 or 4 rounds before things heat up.

I'm sure Oscar fells pressed to sell every fight as a war. But in the long run, people will realize there is no connection between what he claims will be a war and what the fight actually ends up like. Then they will stop listening to him, if they haven't already.

This fight is going 12 rounds. To HIGHLY skilled P4P Boxers RARELY ever get KO'd.

BOTH are too smart to go ****** and turn into head hunters. The 1st one that does is going to lose.

              Hagler vs Hearns it's not

I don't believe for a minute that either fighter will just go bombs away. Dela Hoya is just trying to sell tickets. Going to be a decent fight but it won't be anything like Hagler, Hearns you can forget about that.

LOL Oscar trying to sell the fight a lil more obviously. At least this is better promotion then the "no really this long odds dog could actually win...we are worried about losing" angle to selling a fight like they & others been doing. Even Floyd did that sh^t to awkward levels with his fight last month.

Stop it Oscar. This is not going to be like Hagler vs Hearns

He's promoting the fight cool. The hardcores know this won't be a Hagler-Hearns fight.

It's going to be a good fight for sure, it will build up imo and have more action as the rounds build up and fatigue sets in.

                  But Hagler-Hearns? Nah

                    Lol, True That

That was Oscar for the last 3 Canelo fights against Khan, Smith and Chavez Jr.

Lol, when he said Khan was in the same position Pacquiao was in when Pacquiao moved up to fight Oscar. "You saw what Pacquiao did to me when he moved up." Lol

"Liam Smith is the best of the 154 pound champions, this is a dangerous fight." Lol

Chavez Jr. is the bigger man, this is very dangerous, this is a 50/50 fight." Lol

You're right at least we don't have to hear that B.S. anymore from facing weak opposition.
