Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Jacobs Weighed 182; Canelo's Weight Won't Affect GGG

LAS VEGAS Abel Sanchez expects Canelo Alvarez to out-weigh Gennady Golovkin by five or six pounds when they enter the ring Saturday night. Golovkin's trainer is not nearly as worried, though, about Alvarez's weight advantage over his fighter as he was when Golovkin fought Daniel Jacobs on March 18. Sanchez suspects Jacobs was at least 182 pounds by the time their middleweight title fight started at Madison Square Garden.

Golovkin has been looking very gaunt for this fight. Curious about the weigh in. I'm thinking ggg team have been trying to really hard this week to maintain making weight...

Either GGG's injury from Jacobs seriously put a toll or he just over ate irresponsibly that he is suffering the consequences, or this is a whole game plan for them to rehydrate also at 180+ for the first time.

I think these guys will most likely weigh the same 176-180 tops

Let's see how HBO will run the plot about fight night weighin vs the morning as they did with Jacobs

I don't get it... how could Abel know what Jacobs' weighed in the morning and night of the fight if he never got on the scales after the weigh in?

Doesn't make any sense to me.

He is guessing and always the opponent will be much bigger, he said GGG was 170 on the night yet he was 169.8 with over 12 hrs left, he doesn't gain anything but Jacobs gains a heap,,,,, all speculation and BS.

He doesn't know. If you read the article, Sanchez is admittedly guessing.

Same goes for Jacobs himself, who recently said he weighed about 174 in the fight. But he changed his story. In the post-fight press conference, Jacobs said he didn't know how much he weighed. He was just guessing.

I'd say 182 is a much better guess than 174.
