Comments Thread For: Canelo Shakes Head at Golovkin's Definition of 'Mexican Style'

Question: What's your definition of a "Mexican warrior"? GGG says he likes to fight "Mexican style", but is that something you learned or something you are born with? Canelo Alvarez - "When Golovkin or a lot of his fans refer to fighting "Mexican style" it is describing a style in which a fighter is gutsy, comes forward aggressively, is throwing power punches just to throw them and engages in unnecessary exchanges. I would argue that GGG's definition of "Mexican Style" isn't completely correct.

Canelo should have just told em how it is. Golovkin is fake and that he just repeats the crap his promoter told him to say to try and gain Mexican fans and money.

My favorite Mexican style ever was actually two styles that were opposite. Salvador Sanchez, one of my 3 favorite fighters of all time, smooth operator, and Jose "Pipino" Cuevas, one of my top 10 favorite fighters of all time who was a wrecking machine. Loved those two fighters. Zarate was high on the list too.

Vacating your title isn't any more Mexican than his mouth. Both equally ****** in their comments although one is getting his chompa smacked around this Saturday.

I don't know why it's being called "Mexican Style," just say Mexican fighters. I think if anything it's cultural than a style. Mexican fighters are described as having "machismo". However, some of the best Mexican fighters are highly technical but still maintain the "warrior" mentality that comes along with their cultural identity. You can find that warrior mentality all over the world to include Kazakhstan so I don't know why he just couldn't go with "Kazakh Style". It's just as catchy.

The only Mexican changin an era of Mexican style boxing. There has NEVER been a Mexican style like Nelo's. This dude is straight swift, and is the archtype of even Marquez's style. Nelo fights like an American slick fighter, this is why the Mexicans probably hate him.

JCC paid for guys to take a dive and his son brought back more karma on them for it.

JCC was an alcoholic and coke head. What's Mexican style about that? Unless Nelo is promoting that shıt.
