Comments Thread For: Lipinets vs. Kondo IBF Title Clash is Targeted For November

According to Alex Vaysfeld, the manager of Sergey Lipinets (12-0, 10 KOs), they are targeting a date in November to fight Akihiro Kondo (29-6-1, 16 KOs) for the vacant IBF junior welterweight title. Last week, Terence Crawford vacated the IBF belt a day before a purse bid was scheduled to take place for a mandatory defense against Lipinets. After Crawford vacated, the IBF ordered two highest ranked contenders - Lipinets and Kondo - to fight for the vacant belt.

I agree! Terence Crawford ran like a chicken, scared to fight the feared Sergey Lipinets, whose sterling 12-0 record demonstrates that he has run the gauntlet through 12 of the most dangerous killer opponents at super lightweight:

      Clarence Booth
      Leonardo Zappavigna
      Walter Castillo
      Levan Ghvamichava
      Haskell Rhodes
      Kendal Mena
      Cosme Rivera
      Ernie Sanchez
      Daniel Lomeli
      Rynell Griffin
      Dzemil Cosovic
      Franklin Varela

The 28-year old Lipinets definitely deserves his shot at the title, as his 12 fights have been against the most dangerous opponents at 140 pounds. I can’t wait to see his fight against Akihiro Kondo, yet another dangerous opponent who has also faced nothing but the best.

I don't know why anyone would think crawford is "Running" from lipinets, no offence to the lad but i don't think he beats crawford non do i think he even is at that level yet. People are talking about Crawford going to 147 and beating the top boxers there, but he is "scared" of a 12 fight pro boxer? I saw Lipinets against Rhodes and he won the fight but even that guy's backing off style gave him a little puzzle to figure out.
