Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Wants Best Possible Name For December Return

WBO junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is ready to call it a career in December. The planned date for Cotto's last fight is December 2nd, with Madison Square Garden in New York being the target venue. In his last appearance at the Garden, he won his fourth world title in a different division by dethroning then-middleweight champion Sergio 'La Maravilla' Martinez in a clash held in June 2014.

Middleweight are too big for cotto while the top jmw fighters don't have big enough names for the risk they pose. I think cotto vs Thurman makes perfect sense. If not, Danny garcia.

How about Jermall Charlo? My guess is he will rematch Canelo or fight lemuix.

He should just retire. He can't beat any of the top names at 154 or 160.

Cotto is a ***ing diva. If cotto wants the best possible name for his next fight, he is going to have to fight sometime other than december.

Cotto doesnt HAVE to fight before the end of the year, that is an entirely self imposed arbitrary deadline. Cotto is such a ***ing diva that he thinks the boxing world should bend to his arbitrary deadline and thinks the GGG-Canelo winner is going to fight again in 90 days just because he demands it (remember they will only have 60 days to prepare after taking a month off from sparring post fight).

Cotto can either fight next year if he wants someone good or be happy with whatever bum is available in december.

I always wanted to see him fight Danny Garcia. That would be a great fight. Two Puerto Ricans fighting it out in NYC. Cotto wants his last fight to be in Madison Square Garden, and I think this is a good fight if it can be made. Danny has been quiet lately.

I would also say Cotto/Brook would be a good scrap at 154.

Make the Cotto vs Pacquaio rematch and let them both retire with a good paycheck!!! this would make business sense...

yeah I like the idea of cotto vs garcia at msg. I guess the hurdle will be if golden boy would be willing to work with haymon to make it happen.
