An article that was recently published on BoxingScene.com stated that WBA featherweight champions Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz would not be facing each other as planned in the fall. The WBA had canceled a purse bid when an agreement appeared imminent. The fight had been ordered by the sanctioning body in their effort to reduce their number of champions to one per division.

Wow! featherweight is trash first Frampton cancels now this?...so, so...you mean to tell me that its going to be over a year after this 'tune-up' that Santa Cruz has a proper challenge? the same goes for Mares...so, so....that mean Mares is chief support...so there goes the undercard too?! no thanks.

They all take tune-ups. Nothing new.

On a side note I hope this isn't true?? We're only like 6 weeks out?? They can't find anyone that good in such a short amount of time.

Mares is a tune up lol. Rematch unwarranted. Now that money flow is down we get a fox doubleheader against tba. Kinda sucks. Ill still be watching though lol
