Comments Thread For: White To Boxing Critics: No Excuses When Mayweather is KO'd!

According to UFC president Dana White, a shower of excuses will rain down from the doubters when Conor McGregor knocks out Floyd Mayweather on Saturday night. The two fighters will collide in a boxing ring, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. White is confident that McGregor, the biggest star in mixed martial arts, will shock the entire boxing world.

I am not an MMA fan but I would love to see Floyd getting knocked out by a novice.

Well, the majority of people would love to see Floyd knocked out. Conor's chances will be good if Mayweather got old in the ring and really didn't train that well and is unfocused and checking the strip club more. But Floyd surely did train, and he's hard to hit, but he may be easier to hit now. McGregor could even win on points on sheer volume of punches. It's an unlikely result but possible. The Marciano way of hitting him anywhere and frequently, as well as aiming for the temple are great tactics, but you have to execute it correctly. Either Floyd will look vintage or Conor is going to be a bit too much for him at this stage of his career. Let's get ready to rumble.

In a nutshell then, McGregor is going to swing wildly and land wherever he can on Mayweather.

It's ignorance on White's part to suggest that the boxing 'patterns' aren't effective. The style has evolved through hundreds of years. If swinging and hitting anything worked someone would have done that by now.

I'm pretty sure it was in Oscar and Canelo's blueprint to try and hit Floyd in the arms, elbows, whatever. The problem is when you throw these random punches and you get timed with a clean punch right to the chin, you're less likely to keep trying.
