  • Comments Thread For: Schaefer Feels Joe Joyce Can Face Wilder or Joshua in 5, 6 Fights

How impressed are David Haye and Richard Schaefer with Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce? They believe the boxer can be ready for the likes of world champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in five to six fights. Joyce recently decided to turn pro and signed a promotional agreement with Hayemaker Ringstar - a joint promotional venture between Haye and Schaefer of Ringstar Sports.

If Wilder will be still around. Most likely Wilder will retire from boxing with a big paycheck after his loss to Joshua next summer.

I'm not sure but if you can get that Joshua payday, why not. Joyce is almost 32 already.

LOL idk about that, but f#ck the bs with 20 fights vs nobodies boxing prospect go to plan.

I'd love to see guys winning & moving up quicker than they do in general not just with good prospects.

Even if Schafer thinks Joyce will be ready in 6 fights there's no chance he thinks he'll get it anyway... Joyce is going to have to make some noise and rise up the rankings pretty quickly if he's going to be considered, an that's not possible in 5 fights!

The traditional long buildup of prospects is done for a reason. You want them to be exposed to different styles and different in-ring situations so they can learn how to solve them.

That way they gradually build a solid boxing IQ and a good fitness level to challenge for a world championship.

If done right that is still the ideal way to build a fighter. It's just that too many promoters are clueless about the fighting side and just feed their guys easy knockout victims to build their hype.

Idk why you can't do as you say while putting guys in competitive fights at the same time that bumps them up quicker than they currently are.

I'd argue the way prospects get moved today is more about protecting their 0 to be able to sell it for maximum revenue at some future date or if they end up being the guy for building up a lil extra hype via their unbeatability then it's about making them a more complete fighter.

He should get his rematch against that punk Tony Yoka. Who robbed him of a Gold.

                  He'd probably knock him out.

They're both with Schaefer so it should be doable, although I assume he'd like to marinate it as much as possible. The longer they wait, the more it benefits Yoka, and I'm assuming they see Yoka as the better investment due to his age and the possibility that he opens up the French market like AJ did in the UK
