Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Last I Checked, I'm Undefeated Against Southpaws, Too

Dana White and many others have pointed to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s troubles with southpaws as a reason a huge underdog has a chance to upset him August 26. Mayweather had no such difficulty dealing with the last two left-handed opponents he beat Manny Pacquiao and Robert Guerrero. And the undefeated five-division champion can't envision his 12-round, 154-pound fight against Conor McGregor being any more troublesome than either of those two victories over former world champions.

If you count the fluke win with that Asian guy. Then you are right Floyd.

Even in Spain, they saw Pac winning. (@ 14:00 mark, BOXING EXPERTS AT THE END OF THE VIDEO ALL FOR PAC)

It all stems from the Corley fight. Floyd was being touched up in that fight, but that's only because he choose to let his hands go.

Makes me cringe whenever dana white says that. 1) it's not true 2) Connor is hardly a slick southpaw

While true, Corley was bigger than Floyd. But it also comes from the Judah fight, because early on Judah was doing some good work in there, even a knockdown that wasn't counted off a flush shot to the chin.

I don't think it's southpaws, I think it's speed and stamina. Floyd has had close encounters with fighters that were either fast or aggressive but he always takes over the later rounds because they can't keep that pace up for a half hour. I remember Larry Merchant commenting about N'Dou: "I don't think he'll be able to keep that up."

The fast or aggressive fighters he waits and shells for them to burn themselves out, then dices them up. That's exactly what happened with Gatti, N'Dou, Corley, Burton, Maidana, De La Hoya and Mosley. All but one of those are easily his most exciting performances.

If Conor tries to fight Floyd like he fought Paulie, we're in for a Gatti performance starting round 5, because Conor has damn near no stamina.

Zab was legit getting off for a few rounds. Floyd fought Corley like that because he wanted to.

Conor is no Zab, he's not even a Gatti
