Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Me & McGregor Weren't on Same Plane During Tour

Floyd Mayweather Jr. laughed Thursday when asked about rumors that he and Conor McGregor traveled on the same private jet during their infamous promotional tour last month. Mayweather clarified that they flew on separate planes during an interview session with reporters prior to an open workout at the Mayweather Boxing Gym in Las Vegas. Nearly a month later, some people still believe that Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) and McGregor (21-3, 18 KOs in MMA) traveled together throughout their four-city, four-day tour to promote their 12-round, 154-pound boxing match August 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Conor didn't respond because Floyd was sitting next to his daughter. Conor has manners and self respect.

Damn if I've ever seen McMuffin have any manners. I heard him say on the walk to the plane that he didn't want to check Floyd and in front of his daughter. That was just bs for the camera. Just ask Paulie, he'll tell you! Lmao

In unarmed combat McGregor would kill Floyd in less than a minute.

It almost feels like Floyd is an old actor trying to return to playing a part they played like 20 years earlier, when they were younger, but now it just seems fake, they can't pull it off anymore. He was with 4 or 5 girlfriends "because one is too close to none" but also with his daughter? That just sounds like he's trying to say random controversial **** in order to piss people off, like "wow what a horrible role model, he's such a ****ty guy, I hope he loses, I'm going to buy the PPV to hopefully see him lose."

But it feels fake now. Like can anyone really be this lame and corny? I feel like he's taken the act too far. And absolutely, the press tour felt like WWE. And we all know in WWE, the fights are fixed. And I was watching Mayweather-Ortiz the other day, and that **** was definitely, definitely fixed, WWE-style. Like when the ref looks away in WWE and then the villain wrestler takes a cheap shot while the ref is looking away. Ortiz's jumping headbutt to start off the fake ending, that barely even landed. If you actually wanted to headbutt your opponent in boxing, without getting DQ'd, you wouldn't jump a foot straight up in the air lol. You would do it like Andre Ward does, subtle. You would lower your head so your face doesn't get hurt, and then lean in with it fast like you're trying to get momentum to throw a punch or something.

Instead, Ortiz jumps straight up, to make sure he doesn't damage Mayweather too much, and to make sure the whole world sees it was on purpose, so that when Mayweather sucker punches him afterwards, it fits the narrative that it was in retaliation, and then fans can debate it and it creates controversy. Ortiz fans say Mayweather shouldn't have sucker punched. Floyd fans say Ortiz shouldn't have headbutted. And they can go back and forth. The first sucker punch Floyd throws is a left hook that hits Ortiz, but Ortiz doesn't even move, he just stands there with his chin up, and his hands down, and looks at the ref, who still pretends he can't see it, and still pretends to be looking off outside the ring talking to someone. Then when Floyd throws the harder "KO punch," if you watch closely you can see there's something weird about the punch. Floy doesn't throw it like a hard punch. He kind of leans it and whips it forward like an arm punch, and if you watch really closely, you can see Floyd aimed it at Ortiz's cheek, to the side of the chin, not the chin. And then the replay HBO shows is from the same side of the face that Floyd aimed it at, so at the point of impact, Floyd's glove is blocking Ortiz's face, and you can't really see how it lands. Then Ortiz whips his chin back when it hits his cheek, like a Rocky movie just with more impact obviously, and pretends to be out of it on the floor.

So if that fight was fixed, how do we know this fight won't be fixed? If I trusted Conor would actually try to KO Floyd, and not pull his punches, then I might buy it, but I don't trust it will be a real fight. And also in the Floyd-Ortiz fight, they were pulling their punches. Ortiz kept aiming right at the top of Floyd's head so he could easily duck under the punches, but it would look like Ortiz was actually trying to hit him. One time on the ropes Ortiz was actually about to hit him from over the top, Maidana style, but then he pulled the punch right at the last second when he saw it was about to land.

The only rounds they actually threw some hard punches were the 1st round, to make fans think it was real off the bat so they wouldn't question anything, and the 4th round where the fake ending was planned, so it could seem like a real fight was breaking out right before and that was why Mayweather decided to sucker punch Ortiz. It was to give Floyd a motive basically, when in reality the whole thing was fake.

I think it's a big problem for Mayweather events going forward. People don't believe the act, or even the fights, anymore. There is too much money behind him so he is protected, and it's getting harder and harder to believe that these opponents would not be willing to take dives when they're getting paid millions if not hundreds of millions of dollars. It's a big problem. The cash cow wins every single time these days, so it's not believable anymore.

And we saw how Ortiz was rewarded. He got a spot on dancing with the stars, then got to act with Sly in The Expendables sequel, almost as if they asked him what he wanted to throw the fight, and he said he wanted to be a Hollywood celebrity. Then in a recent interview he said the whole experience of fame has been like "selling your soul," well yeah because he literally did sell out to get that fame, he threw a fight. That's what he is hinting at I believe. We all know Conor loves fame too, so how are we supposed to believe he hasn't also sold out?
