Comments Thread For: Lomachenko-Marriaga Averaged Just 728,000 Viewers on ESPN

Top Rank's move from HBO to ESPN was supposed to expose Vasyl Lomachenko to more viewers. It didn't. Lomachenko's seven-round domination of overmatched Miguel Marriaga was watched by fewer viewers Saturday night on ESPN than his previous fight on HBO. According to final ratings released by Nielsen Media Research on Tuesday morning, an average audience of 728,000 watched Lomachenko's victory over Marriaga about 104,000 less people than tuned in for his last fight.

Opposition. he's being hailed as an ATG already, but fans want to see him in against competition. The marketing and commentators give it away all of the time when they note his opponent isn't in his class. That immediately will turn people off.

Step up the competition Loma and the dancing around isn't helping.

People in America are never gonna get behind an eastern European fighter in mass Loma is incredible but stop trying to push eastern Europeans to become stars on America it'll never happen as I've said before even the great wlad Klitschko didn't become a star Loma has no chance of ever being a big star state side

There goes any chance at the Rigo or Mikey fights being next for Loma. A huge turnout was needed to show that Loma was a big attraction and demand more $$ from sponsors in a potential fight with Rigo or Mikey to supplement the fighter purses.

I was sleepy after the Beltran fight. I know the Solido fight fell through and it was a stay busy fight but still...

Klitch would get HUGE ratings every time he fought in the US. I think Loma can become a star because he has the style that attracts casual fans, but he needs to dethrone a big name fighter first, which doesn't seem like it'll happen anytime soon.

No surprise after channel switch and seriously late start. I'm sure the people who did see him will be back. Guy is really getting into being a showman.

That's a lie Klitschko was dropped by HBO post ratings
